Yoga & Meditation

I teach weekly yoga and meditation classes at the Healing WELL. My goal is to provide the participants with tools that can make them more resilient in their daily lives. These are some of the exercises I regularly use.

Body scan

A body scan meditation is a deep investigation into the moment-to-moment experiences of the body.

Breathing exercises

The good old calming three part breath.

Alternate nostril breathing for balance.

Releasing agitation, anxiety, or anger with the bee breath.

Emotional Freedom Techniques

It sounds too simple to be true, but lightly tapping on ‘meridian points’ on the body (similar to acupuncture) can release tension and negative emotions.

Self-compassion break

A simple three step exercise to practice how to be more kind to yourself in times of suffering.

Yoga with tennis balls

It’s incredible how much tension you can release with tennis balls. Here are some great exercises (and here too).

Candle meditation

For this meditation, you use the flame of a candle as the focus for you meditation.

Mountain meditation

A meditation by Jon Kabat-Zinn that helps you feel more steady and centered. Similar to the lake meditation.
